Easy Quilt Block for Beginners

This Easy Quilt Block for Beginners is perfect to add more to and make a rag quilt or baby quilt. Such a fun pattern that you can easily make in 30 minutes or less.

Supplies for Easy Quilt block for Beginners

• Fabric A that measures 7″x7″
• Fabric B that measures 7″x7″
• Fabric C that measures 9″x9″
• Washable fabric Marker
• Ruler

Instructions

With right sides together, sew Fabric A and B together using a 1/4″ seam allowance.

Using a hard surface to draw lines diagonally in opposite directions with your fabric marker. This will create the middle section of your easy quilt block for beginners.

Being careful, cut your diagonal lines, making sure you don’t go through any seams. You only want to go through your top piece. They should simply fold open after you finish cutting.

Iron your seams opening it up. Make sure everything is laying flat.

Next, take fabric C and place it on top of your opened easy quilt block for beginners. It should be right sides together and using your pins or clips to hold things in place.

Take your piece and head over to the sewing machine and sew your pieces together using 1/4″ seam allowance.

You are going to do the same thing as you did before, marking a diagonal line in both directions. You want to cut those lines cutting only through that top fabric.

Go ahead and grab your iron and iron your seams, so everything is laying flat. You may need to trim your quilt block. It should measure 11.5″ x 11.5″ square. There will be little triangles you will need to cut.
