Supplies for Quilt Floor Pillow

Assemble the Pillow Center

  1. Referring to the photo above, lay out the four blocks in pairs. Sew together the pairs using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press your seam allowances in opposite directions
  2. Join the pairs to make the pillow center using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press the seam allowance in one direction. The pieced pillow center should measure 20 1/2″ square including the seam allowances.

Add the Border

Sew a white and lavender print 4x 201/2″ border strip to opposite edges of the pieced pillow center. Press the seam allowances toward the white and lavender print border.

Sew an assorted pastel print 4″ square to each end of the remaining white and lavender print 4 x 20 1/2″ border strips to make 2 pieced border units. Press the seam allowances toward the white and lavender print strips.

Join the pieced border units to the remaining edges of the pieced pillow center to complete the pillow top. Press the seam allowances toward the white and lavender print border.

Finish Your Pillow

Layer the pillow top, batting and lining. Baste the layers. Finish your quilt floor pillow as you desire. Trim the excess batting and lining even with the raw edges of the pillow top.

Fold and press under 1/4″ along a long edge of each white and lavender print 22 1/2 x 27 1/2″ rectangle. Press under an addition 3″ along the same edge; topstitch. Overlap the 2 pieces to form a 27″ square for the pillow back

With wrong sides together layer the pillow back and the pillow top; baste the layers together sewing a scant 1/4″ from the raw edges.

Use the pastel print 2 1/2 x 42″ strips to bind the pillow top and back.

Insert the pillow form through the back opening. Congrats you have finished your quilt floor pillow.
